Anotace

The course aims to present the topic of the human life cycle. The main goal is to master the English terminology and acquire the necessary skills to read and understand texts of varying length on the topics of social work and related areas. The course contents cover basic information about general aspects of human development, i.e. the areas in which humans generally develop during their life cycle, an overview of the main stages with the typical achievements, together with the possible risks and crises, the knowledge of which is essential for a social worker to be able to understand the needs and problems of their clients.

The course is divided into the following five units:

1. Introduction to human development
2. Childhood
3. Adolescence
4. Adulthood
5. Old age
The level of the course is B1-B2 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The course also aims to refresh, practise, and further build up the active knowledge of common grammatical structures and general English vocabulary.

The target competence of this course is to be able to present the stages in the human life cycle that are covered using correct up-to-date terminology.
