Artistic ability
In dental technicians, dental craftsmanship has to be combined with artistry to create prosthesis that can be compared to jewels. This is what distinguishes human work from computer work which is used more and more in dental labs. Computers should support technicians, and shouldn't be seen only as their opponents.
Example
A good example of where people still perform better than computers is gradual layering used to create crowns with ceramic material. Such crowns look more natural than crowns fabricated by computer based technologies.
It is, however, obvious that new artistic technicians will have to work hard to blend new materials and technologies with art and thus take the best of both worlds. And it is true there will probably be less demand for them. Nevertheless, there will always be customers who will appreciate fine dental art.
