First Aid Kit
Every first aid kit found at home should be equipped with the following:
- scissors to cut bandages and a sticking plaster
- tweezers to remove ticks and splinters
- bandages, compresses to dress wounds, pins and clips to pin bandages
- sterile dressings, gauze pads and eye pads to apply to wounds
- a sticking plaster or adhesive tape to cover wounds
- a sling to immobilize sprains, dislocations and fractures
- disposable gloves to prevent cross infection
- iodine, antiseptic sprays or any other disinfectant to clean wounds
- antiseptic hand wipes to disinfect your hands or wounds
There should also be some basic medication, such as
- eye and nose drops
- pain killers to relieve the pain
- antihistamines to fight allergies
- ointments
- anti-fungal creams
- emetics to induce vomiting
- antiemetics to stop vomiting
- food supplements
- antidiarrheals to stop diarrhoea
- anti-inflammatories to reduce swelling
- laxatives to increase bowel movement
